Most of us crave well being.

We want our days to go well. That might mean different things to different people but for the most part we want to feel valued, special, secure, and connected, in a meaningful way to others. Psychologist and counselor Larry Crabb files all of these things under two headings: Security and Significance. These basic needs often operate under the radar of our conscience thoughts. When unmet, they create a measure of discomfort and motivate us (often unconsciously) toward behaviors and choices that we believe will either meet that need or distract us from it.

The Christian life (a disciple’s journey) is the process of connecting to God in an ever-deepening way and growing with others in spiritual community so we can experience God meeting those basic needs in the healthiest way possible, this side of Heaven.
